The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak has presented ten (10) brand new Nissan pickup vehicles to the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), to augment and enhance operational activities.
The minister at a brief ceremony to hand over the vehicles held at the Headquarters of the Commission on Monday 2 February 2026, said the gesture was a clear testament of the governmentโs commitment to strengthening Ghanaโs security institutions and equipping them with the necessary logistics to effectively carry out their mandate of safeguarding the nation.
โThese ten Nissan pickup vehicles being commissioned today are therefore a strategic investment intended to enhance the operational efficiency, rapid response capability, and nationwide reach of the Commissionโ. -Hon. Minister for the interior said
He reiterated that the fight against illicit drugs and transnational organised crime remains a critical national and global concern. Adding that โthe government, through all relevant stakeholders are poised and committed to curb the menace dispassionately in the interest of Ghanaโ.
โThe activities of narcotics trafficking, drug abuse, and related criminal networks pose serious threats to public health, national security, and socio-economic development, and Ghana, being a responsible member of the international community, cannot and will not relent in confronting these threatsโ. -Hon. Minister for the interior said
The minister further stated that โNarcotics Control Commission plays a pivotal role in this national effort, where officers work tirelessly, often under difficult conditions, to prevent drug trafficking, disrupt criminal syndicates, and protect our borders, communities, and young peopleโ.
โI wish to emphasise that these vehicles are public assets and will therefore urge the management and officers of the Narcotics Control Commission to ensure that they are used judiciously, maintained properly, and deployed strictly for official duties in furtherance of the Commissionโs mandateโ. โ Hon. Minister for the interior stated
The Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission, Brig Gen Maxwell Obuba Mantey on his part said the vehicles commissioned today will significantly enhance our operational capacity, improve response times, and enable our officers to reach difficult terrains and high-risk areas across the country.
Adding that โthis intervention will undoubtedly strengthen our surveillance, interdiction, and intelligence-led operationsโ.
He expressed his appreciation to the Ministry of the Interior and the Government of Ghana for this timely logistical support. โIt reassures us that our efforts are recognised and that our operational challenges are being addressed in a practical and meaningful mannerโ.
He assured the minister that the vehicles will be properly maintained and deployed strictly in furtherance of NACOCโs mandate to combat illicit drug trafficking, reduce drug abuse, and protect the health, safety, and security of the Ghanaian people.
