The Deputy Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission, in charge of Enforcement, Control, and Elimination, Mr Alexander Twum-Barimah, has admonished staff stationed at the Kotoka International Airport to adhere to professional and ethical standards in the performance of their duties.
According to him, officers detailed to perform their respective assignments are mandated to follow the ethical principles that bind all staff across the country, devoid of any form of acts that impugn the reputation of the Commission.
Mr Twum-Barimah made these remarks at the closing ceremony for a five-day capacity-building programme organised by NACOC in partnership with the French Embassy at the Kotoka International Airport on Friday, 24 October 2025.
He commended the partners and donors of the training programme, namely, the MILD & CA: Mission Interministerielle de Lutte contre la Drogue et les Conduites Addictives, the International Security Cooperation Directorate (DCIS) and the Office Anti-Stupefiants (OFAST).
The training paved the way for participants who were selected from NACOC and the Customs and Preventive Division at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to be equipped on topics relating to passenger profiling and controls, and other areas.
The Deputy Director-General further urged participants to eschew engaging in acts that would compromise their integrity and professionalism as officers of the Commission.
“Any officers found culpable to be involved in acts that seek to taint or tarnish the reputation of the Commission will not be spared, hence it is incumbent on all officers to avoid getting into such slippery grounds of aiding and abetting to prohibitions of the law”, he added.
Mr Twum-Barimah congratulated the participants for their commitment to complete the course, which was focused on “Profiling, Targeting and Combating Drug Trafficking in Airport Area.”
The Director of Operations and Enforcement of NACOC CNCO (Rtd) Solomon Stanley Eyo lauded the initiative by the donors and other supporters of the training programme.
