The Narcotics Control Commission on Thursday, June 05, 2025, through its Tactical Deployment Unit, carried out a raid exercise at the Ankwa-Doboro community, a suburb of Amasaman in the Greater Accra Region.
The exercise, which was undertaken upon a tipoff indicating that a pub was being used to trade illicit drugs, whereupon surveillance led to the apprehension of one Nicholas Fiagah, a sub-chief responsible for youth wellbeing (Mbratiehene) of the area.
A search at the pub revealed some wraps of substances suspected to be cannabis, whereas a field test conducted on the seized consignment proved positive for cannabis with a weight of 24.46 kilogrammes, with an estimated street value of GHC 40,440.00.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and detained, where he will be prosecuted in court pending further investigation.
Items uncovered through the raid include twenty-eight (28) quantities of wrapped brown slabs of substance believed to be cannabis, four Round wrapped brown substances believed to be amnesia, and seven hundred and nine (709) pieces of sealed substances believed to be amnesia.
Others include four (4) round wrapped white substances believed to be GH Gold, one container filled with substances believed to be cannabis, as well as forty-six (46) small tied substances believed to be Hashish.
