The Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Brigadier General Maxwell O. Mantey, and his Deputy Director- General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Mr. Alexander Twum-Barima, Esq., paid a courtesy call on the Comptroller General of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS), Mr. Samuel Basintale Adamu, at the GIS Headquarters in Accra.
The visit formed part of the Commission’s broader strategic engagement plan to strengthen inter-agency collaboration in the national effort to combat illicit drug trafficking and related organised crime. It also served as an official introduction of the new NACOC leadership to key national security stakeholders.
Brig. Gen. Mantey emphasized the need for a modified aggressive operation to curtail the drug menace, stating that the growing sophistication of drug networks calls for intensified collaboration, intelligence-sharing and coordinated border enforcement. He reiterated NACOC’s commitment to forging strong alliances with border management agencies to protect the nation from the scourge of narcotics.
The Comptroller General, Mr. Adamu, warmly welcomed the NACOC delegation and affirmed GIS’s readiness to support joint operational frameworks and capacity-building initiatives. He stressed the importance of synchronising efforts in policy and practice to dismantle cross-border drug trafficking syndicates.
Both institutions expressed optimism about a renewed era of cooperation and pledged to institutionalise regular engagement at technical and strategic levels to ensure lasting impact in the national drug control agenda.
