The Management of the Narcotics Control Commission, led by the Director-General, Brig Gen Maxwell Obuba Mantey, on Friday, 26 September 2025, engaged heads of the various security agencies at the Aflao border post.

The engagement was to discuss and find measures to control some nefarious activities occurring at the border posts.

The call was also to thank the BORDSEC members for their collaboration and support to the NACOC officials regarding the management of the border post.

Brig Gen Obuba Mantey expressed concern about the growing acts of illicit drug smuggling through the unapproved routes into Ghana and appealed to the various security agencies to support the Commission to curb the menace.

“NACOC is committed to partnering with all our sister security agencies responsible for the manning of the Aflao border post to ensure that Ghana becomes an unattractive haven for traffickers and users”, he added.

He implored members of the BORDSEC to refrain from engaging in acts that seek to aid and abet the clandestine acts of illegality perpetrated along the Aflao border post, as this, he stressed, would tarnish the reputation of their respective agencies if they were found culpable.

“NACOC is always ready to partner and cooperate with all stakeholders to help curb the illicit drug trafficking and usage, as Ghana needs the next generation to be very healthy and active”, Brig Gen Mantey added.

The Sector Commander of the Aflao Customs Division, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, Mrs Felicia Dadeboe Azuma, on her part, on behalf of her colleagues from the security agencies, assured that the wise counsel by the NACOC Director-General would be put into strict adherence to enable them to render quality and professional services to all manner of travelers.

She added that BORDSEC will continue to initiate and implement measures to tighten security at all vantage points, thereby making it difficult for smugglers to operate.

BORDSEC will also work together to ensure the safety and security of the communities along the borders.
