The Director-General of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, together with his two deputies on Friday 15 May, 2025 paid a courtesy call on Akwamu Paramount Chief HRM Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III at Akwamufie in the Asuogyamang District of the Eastern Region.
The visit was to officially introduce himself to the traditional leadership and have discussions in relation to the proposed NACOC Training School project under his jurisdiction.
The call was also to assure the Omanhene of the Commission’s readiness to ensure that the project is given the needed attention.
Brigadier General Mantey assured Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III of the Commission’s continuous commitment and partnership with the Traditional Council to ensure that the training school commences soon.
He appealed to Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III to support the Commission in the fight against the drug abuse menace by adding his voice to the fight and thanked him for availing his land for the proposed project.
On his part, HRM Odeneho Kwafo Akoto III, Paramount Chief of Akwamufie, thanked the delegation for the visit and reaffirm his commitment to support the Commission to achieve its aim.
He assured that his Paramountcy is ready to ensure that the land allocated to the Commission for the school is devoid of any litigation as well as ready to add more if the need comes for the Commission to ask.
The NACOC delegation included Lawyer Twum-Berima, Deputy Director-General in charge of Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Mr Stephen Yeboah, Deputy Director-General in charge of General Services, Mr Solomon Eyo, Director, Enforcement, Mrs Hazel J. Mensah, Director, Human Resource and Administration, Mr Francis Opoku Amoah, Acting Director in charge of Public Affairs and International Relations and Mr Sylvester Koomson, Acting Director, Research and Policy Planning.
