As part of its strategic efforts to bolster national security and curb illicit drug activities, the leadership of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) engaged the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA) in a high-level stakeholder meeting at the GPHA Headquarters in Tema.

The NACOC delegation, led by the Director- General, Brigadier General Maxwell O. Mantey, Deputy Director- General, Enforcement, Control and Elimination, Mr. Alexander A. Twum-Barimah, Director of Enforcement, Mr. Stanley Solomon Eyo, Director of Public Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Francis Opoku Amoah, and Head of Protocol, Ms. Maame Fosuaah Adusei-Poku, met with GPHA officials to discuss areas of mutual interest aimed at strengthening collaboration.

The meeting focused on intensifying efforts to address port security challenges, drug trafficking, and related illicit activities. Both parties emphasized the need for a modified aggressive operation to curtail the drug menace, particularly by streamlining operations at export points, reinforcing container inspections, and enhancing intelligence sharing.

Both organisations acknowledged the critical need for continuous dialogue, regular stakeholder consultations and trust-building initiatives to sustain the momentum generated by this engagement. This meeting marks a renewed chapter of cooperation between NACOC and GPHA, aimed at securing Ghana’s ports, protecting the youth and strengthening the nation’s fight against illicit drugs.
